Support the Museum's Mission
The Cuero Heritage Museum is proudly owned, operated, and funded by the City of Cuero. We are dedicated to preserving and sharing the extraordinary history of our community.
Your Contribution & Tax Benefits
We are currently transitioning our independent organizational structure and are operating directly under municipal management as we work to re-establish our independent non-profit status by 2027.
However, because we are a municipal department, your contributions are still eligible for tax benefits!
- The City of Cuero is a political subdivision of the State of Texas.
- Under Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Section 170(c)(1), donations made to a government entity for exclusively public purposes are tax-deductible.
- Donor Documentation: For every financial or physical asset contribution, the museum provides a formal thank-you letter alongside a verified city tax-exempt letter detailing the City EIN, ensuring you have the proper documentation to consult with your tax advisor regarding eligible deductions.
To discuss making a contribution or to coordinate a donation, please contact us directly at 361-485-8090 or email afitts@cityofcuero.com.
Ways to Support Us Today
- Historical Artifacts & Archives: We actively welcome donations of family heirlooms, regional photographs, historical records, and vintage physical items/artifacts to grow our public exhibits.
- Volunteer Support: Share your time and passion by welcoming guests, assisting with school tours, or helping with community events.
- In-Kind Goods & Services: Professional services, construction assistance, printing, and event supplies directly reduce our operational costs.
- Direct Contributions: Funding can be designated for current operational needs, exhibit expansion projects, or future museum goals.
Honoring Loved Ones & Milestones
Consider anchoring your gift to a special moment. We welcome contributions given:
- In Memory or Honor: Pay tribute to an individual, local veteran, or family legacy.
- Commemorating Milestones: Celebrate a special event, anniversary, graduation, wedding, or retirement.
- Holiday & Group Giving: Coordinate a combined contribution from a family, business group, or local organization.
Future & Planned Giving
We look forward to expanding our programming and building a long-term museum endowment. If you would like to discuss structuring a future legacy gift to align with our upcoming 2027 organizational milestones, we welcome conversations regarding:
- Bequests and Planned Estate Gifts
- Real Estate Assets (Land, Homes, Buildings)
- Royalties from Oil and Gas Production
- Life Insurance or Retirement Plan Assets
We are deeply grateful for your partnership in helping us build the Cuero Heritage Museum into one of the finest historical destinations in Texas!
